Support for Licensing Projects

In licensing projects, we evaluate all available HCN/NaCN technologies, resulting in a recommendation for the most appropriate and most economical process for the licensee. We act as process-knowledgeable experts on behalf of the licensee towards the licensor.

Our role is to ensure that the interests of the licensee are fully and effectively reflected throughout all technical discussions, evaluations, and decision-making steps with the licensor.

We support the preparation of technical documentation and engineering deliverables for regulatory approval processes, including safety reports, emissions documentation, and coordination with authorities throughout the licensing workflow.

A feasibility study evaluates the technical, economic, and safety-related viability of an HCN or NaCN plant, providing a reliable basis for strategic investment decisions.

It includes the analysis of process routes, preliminary mass and energy balances, as well as infrastructure and permitting requirements. The feasibility study gives a clear and technically sound basis for the next project phases.

Due to our deep expertise and many years of hands-on experience in operating HCN and NaCN production facilities, we are uniquely positioned to support our clients throughout the entire project lifecycle.

From early project planning and engineering concepts to full implementation and operational readiness, we provide reliable, technically sound guidance every step of the way.

Our practical operational background ensures that every recommendation is grounded in real-world performance, enabling our clients to execute projects efficiently, safely, and with long-term confidence.

Technical support during commissioning, cold and hot startup, and ramp-up phases, including procedure development, operational troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and stabilization of critical process parameters.

Detailed evaluation of process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, operational setpoints, throughput constraints, and plant‑wide performance indicators to identify configuration‑related inefficiencies for HCN and NaCN production plants and, furthermore, for NaCN transloading facilities.

We provide expert support for existing HCN and NaCN production plants as well as cyanide handling facilities by identifying operational, technical, and organizational weaknesses and resolving them effectively.

Building on decades of hands-on experience in plant operation, engineering, and process optimization, we conduct systematic assessments of equipment, process parameters, operating practices, and safety-relevant workflows to uncover performance gaps and inefficiencies.

Our approach goes beyond analysis. We recommend qualified partners where required and accompany the entire implementation process—whether it involves technical modifications, process adjustments, or organizational improvements. Through this end-to-end support, we ensure that all measures are executed reliably and that plant performance, operational stability, and process safety are sustainably enhanced.

In relation to the requirements of the International Cyanide Management Code, we additionally provide the expertise needed to ensure long-term safe operations that protect both people and the environment. Especially when the ambition is to go beyond the minimum requirements, we support operators in taking a deeper look at the essential aspects that drive continuous improvement and responsible action.

We closely examine the key safety, environmental, and process-relevant factors and create a solid foundation for ongoing enhancement and sustainable, accountable operational practices.

We serve as process subject-matter experts, providing operators and process owners with technically grounded, experience-based support throughout the HAZOP process.

With many years of hands-on experience operating, analyzing, and optimizing HCN and NaCN production units—as well as numerous comparable process systems—we bring deep operational understanding, practical insight, and proven engineering know-how to the table.

Our contribution focuses on supporting the operator in evaluating technical risks, interpreting deviation scenarios accurately, and identifying effective, realistic mitigation measures. We enrich the HAZOP discussion with operational expertise, industry best practices, and lessons learned from real-world plant performance, ensuring that the evaluation goes beyond theoretical considerations and reflects the true behavior of the process.

A key element of long-term process safety is conducting recurring HAZOP studies. As plants evolve over time—whether due to process modifications, load changes, equipment aging, or updated regulatory requirements—periodic reviews are essential to identify emerging risks and to verify the continued effectiveness of safeguards. Our extensive experience across multiple plants and technologies allows us to contribute valuable cross-industry insights, supporting operators in continuously enhancing process safety and operational reliability.
